This week we worked on creating interview guidelines and practiced it in class to improve our questions, mimics and our interaction with interweaves.

Desk Research

I started with desk research and checked some problems, existing apps, and websites related to my 3 topics of interest. As I was expecting there are too many existing digital products. I think some points still need to have more research such as having less impact on the environment, customizing the trips, finding a solution for organizing the planning progress. I decided to understand how people travel in general terms to be able to focus on problems that I figured out.

Guides for User Interviews

After creating the guideline for my 3 topics ( biking experience in the city, responsible travel& exploring the city and professional networking) I interviewed 2 people for each topic. In the end, I decided to continue traveling and biking topics.

First Interview Questions for Biking experience in the City

User Interviews

1- Biking in the City

I talked with Huseyin, Luenne, and Esra about biking experience in the city. They all enjoy biking in the city therefore I got some insights with their experiences. They use biking as a tourist to explore the city or as transportation within the city. I tried to figure out different purposes and environments where they rent a bike, which platforms they use to rent them and what are the problems that they face when they cycle in the city. Also, I was interested in why they prefer cycling and how they choose the route when they cycle. You can find my insights about their experience in the following section of research synthesis.

2- Responsible Travel ( Discovering a New City)

As traveling and living in another city has been always one of my biggest passion I decided to understand how other people travel and I hope to find out how I can improve their experience in terms of, making plans, discovering a new city, finding hidden gems and making a less impact on the environment.

After I talked with two people I decided to change my questions to have a better understanding of why people want to explore the city like locals, if they care about the environment while they travel also why paths are important.

Also, I divided my questions into two steps, before traveling and during the travel.
